Aperoll made an eye catching debut in the opening race of Bet Victor June Raceday at Newbury on Monday afternoon, having been heavily backed in the morning.

The filly was backed from a morning price of 8-1 into 9-4 favouritism under Pat Dobbs. The two-year-old daughter of Ghaiyyath was bought for 80,000gns as a yearling and was well fancied before the off despite being one of ten runners without racing experience in the 6½f fillies’ maiden.

Aperoll travelled in the middle of the 12-runner field, before showing a smart turn of foot inside the final furlong to win by a length from Scommessa Sicura.

“Without sounding too arrogant, I think she is a very nice filly,” Hannon told Sky Sports Racing. “She looked big with her racing saddle on, and we could have waited another month, but what’s the point? I think she could be very good. I backed her as well and got 8-1. Pat said he couldn’t pull her up and that she’ll get further.”

The win kicked started a quick fire double for the partnership of Hannon and Dobbs after River King was successful in the one mile handicap.

The four-year-old finished second on his handicap debut at Chepstow 11 days ago and went one better today after making all to score by three and a quarter lengths.

Hannon’s double made it five winners in a row from his last five runners for the Marlborough handler.

On a happy day for favourite backers, even money shot Sea Cookie prevailed in the 6f maiden with Cieren Fallon aboard after his first appearance for 295 days after being gelding and having a breathing operation ahead of his return.

Fallon, was quick to pick up another winning ride after steering Naval Tribute to victory in the 2m handicap.

A career best second at Ascot 24 days ago was a promising run, with the gelding out of Sea The Stars going one better by pulling away to score by three lengths.

Adrian Wintle was quick to send out Aces Wild after the gelding scored at Bath six days ago. Despite a 4lb penalty, under a strong drive from Finley Marsh, the seven-year-old got up on the line to win by a neck.

Another tight finish on the card occurred in the finale with an epic battle between Nanino Niyati and Twisting Physics, with Nanino Niyati getting up on the nod to score by a nose under Callum Rodriguez.
