Midnightattheoasis duly completed a four timer at Lingfield Park in the sunshine on Tuesday afternoon.
The five-year-old had already completed wins at Wolverhampton, Newcastle and at Lingfield just four days ago. Under jockey Rossa Ryan the horse was dropped in at the back before being ridden to lead towards the finish and just doing enough to win by a neck from Recon Mission.
Jamie Insole and Dr. Richard Newland’s good start to the year continued when Mandana landed the mile fillies maiden.
The three-year-old was breaking her maiden tag at the sixth attempt was racing once again after a break of 173 days and was a sixth flat winner for the duo.
Insole said: “We’ve got 65 Flat horses in. Last year we were mad keen to get all-weather runners but I’ve been a bit more patient this year and looked after the three-year-olds – we’ve had three three-year-olds win first time out already.”
One of those was Chess Dad, who made a winning debut in a mile novice at Newcastle in January. The Study Of Man colt holds an entry in the French Derby and Insole has high hopes for him.
“We’ve got some really nice ones to come out – Dividend on Sunday and Chess Dad as well in the next couple of weeks,” Insole added.
“Chess Dad’s Newcastle win was really good. I think he’ll get further and I’ve got him in the French Derby, which could be an option, but he’ll have to prove it first.
The only ride on the card from Grace McEntee proved a successful one and a big shock in the opener after Invicible Speed came from last to first to win cosily by 1 ¼ lengths at the odds of 40-1.
Owners Deva Racing, who have Imperial Emperor and Walk Of Stars entered in the Dubai World Cup on Saturday, had reason to celebrate once again when Disclosure took the mile fillies handicap under in form jockey Mason Paetel, who was ridding his 4th winner in his last six rides, for the fillies first start for James Owen.
Dance Time certainly enjoyed her first visit to Lingfield after landing the 1m 5f handicap with Rossa Ryan aboard for the first leg of his double on the card.
Simon & Ed Crisford maintained their fine strike rate at the track, currently standing at 26% after War Hawk hit the front two furlongs from home to go on and win by two lengths from Bownder.
Charlie Johnston often sends his horses down south from Middleham to great success, with Urban Sprawl adding to his tally under Callum Shepherd.
