Landmark success for Hollie Doyle at Lingfield on Monday

Hollie Doyle celebrated a landmark success at Lingfield Park on Monday afternoon when Handle With Care became her 1,000 winner in Britian in the opening race on the card.

Doyle rode her first winner on The Mongoose for David Evans at Salisbury in 2013 and in 2019 set a new record for winners ridden by a female rider in a calendar year with 116 victories.

She rode a career-best 172 winners in 2021 and reached 1,000 winners worldwide at Goodwood in September.

After getting off the three-year-old, Doyle spoke to Sky Sports Racing. “I’m delighted to reach this milestone. Hopefully there’s another thousand under the bonnet somewhere!

“I’ve had so much support over the years and so many people have been loyal to me, especially Archie [Watson] as since I joined him my career has really taken off.”

“Marco has been a big supporter of mine for a long time, so it’s quite fitting. She was a bit sluggish at the start last time but she was much sharper today and should stay seven furlongs.”

Elsewhere on the nine race card, Obsidian Knight continued his love for Lingfield by bringing up his fifth win over the course after landing the 1m 2f handicap with Brandon Wilkie aboard for Newmarket trainer T.J. Kent.

The same combination paired up for a quick fire double in the very next race with Mister Mojito who was wearing a tongue strap for the first time, to go clear inside the final furlong to win by 3/4 lengths from Saturnalia.

Three time C&D winner made it four wins at Lingfield after getting up late to beat Lord Danielson in the 7f handicap for trainer Laura Mongan.

Mashaan proved one of the more comfortable winners of the afternoon by winning cosily by 3 ¾ lengths from Comedian Leader for Newmarket trainer Alice Haynes.

After the race, Haynes mentioned that the horse could well be out quickly again and is entered at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Amo Racing look to have another exciting prospect in their ranks in the shape of Diablo Rojo. The three-year-old was a 325,000gns purchase as a yearling. After making an impressive debut at Redcar last July the colt finished sixth in a Group 3 race at York. Despite being off for 215 days, the three-year-old had undergone wind surgery. Wearing a tongue strap the horse managed to hold on by a head to fend off the challenge of Hello Zaman.
