Owner Julie Wood had a Friday she will never forget when both Voyage and Star Style made successful debuts under Pat Dobbs on Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Friday.
Voyage, took the 1m 2f novice before Star Style landed the 7f fillies maiden in sensational style.
After putting daylight between her and Bella Taslina by five and a half lengths, Wood said “This filly showed a lot at home and today we had our hearts in our mouths. We’d entered her in the English and Irish Guineas in the hope that she was the filly we thought she was and today she proved it.”
Both winners were trained by Richard Hannon who continued his excellent start to the season by bringing up a treble that opened with Hawaiian justifying going off a 11-8 favourite under Sean Levey.
The Marlborough trainer has now had six winners in the last 14 days with Levey making it 5 winners in the past fortnight.
On a day of big price winners, the David Simcock trained Sinology went to post at 25-1, and with just his second start left behind his maiden tag under Luke Morris to win the 1m 2f maiden fillies stakes.
In a thrilling finish to the second race on the card, the four-year-old Wiltshire just got up on the line under Tom Marquand to win by a head from Chairmanoftheboard.
The Class 2 Compton Beauchamp Estates Ltd Silver Bar handicap Stakes went to another long priced shot Prince Alex, trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis with David Egan in the saddle. Despite being off for over 200 days, the seven year old relished the 2m trip to win by one and a quarter lengths from Robert Johnson.
