Double for Murphy in the late September sunshine at Lingfield

Honours of the day at Lingfield Park went to jockey Oisin Murphy, who rode a quick fire double at the Surrey track on Tuesday afternoon.

The Irishman rode the unraced three year old Monkmoor Pip to victory in the fifth race of the day before bringing up his double when the filly It’s Marvellous took the next race on the card under Murphy by a neck.

The opening race of the afternoon went to the 9-4 favourite Laoisman on his polytrack debut with Robert Havlin in the saddle. Havlin rode the colt out a furlong from home to win by a length and a quarter.

Mcloven a recent spontaneous buy for owner Robert Moss was a surprise winner in the 5f At The Races App Market Movers Nursery Handicap Stakes at 18-1.

Moss bought the horse for 25,000 gns last month after winning at Wolverhampton in his final race for trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy. The juvenile made it back to back victories on his debut for Epsom trainer Simon Dow by holding on to win by a neck with Paddy Bradley on board.

Sean Levey on board Zing Up just got the better of Hector Crouch on board Lion Ring by a head at 6-1 to win the third race of the afternoon.

There was another close finish in the next race when top weight Shoot To Kill with Finley Marsh on board who was all out to beat Belo Horizonte who was looking to make it a five timer, but lost out by a head.

Bottom weight Kodiman broke his maiden tag by winning the penultimate race on the card. The horse with Jack Mitchell on board kept on well inside the final 110 yards to win by a length.

In the final race of the afternoon, Expert Witness sprung a surprise at odds of 28-1 with George Rooke on board.
