Highclere’s Chic Colombine took the big race of the day at Goodwood in the £100,000 British EBF 2yo fillies series final.
The George Boughey trained horse, backed up recent victories at Haydock and Doncaster to make it a four timer including three wins this month.
With William Buick on board, Buick was travelling nicely into contention before battling away gamely to deny runner up Lexington Belle by three quarters of a length.
The seven race card, opened with a winner from Hayley Turner on Let’s Dream who beat the fancied Align The Stars by a length and a half for Newmarket trainer Michael Bell.
Five year old Rhoscolyn- who has already won six races ay 7f on ground varying from good to soft- gave trainer David O’Meara a win with Jason Watson on board.
The gelding prevailed by a head from the seven year old campaigner Hafeet Alain who was headed in the final strides to lose out narrowly.
It was a father and daughter act in the third race of the day when Jamie Osborne saddled Hierarchy to victory with his daughter Saffie Osborne on board.
In another tight finish, the horse kept on well under Saffie to lead before the finish to win by a neck from Tiriac.
Tom Marquand bought up a double in the meeting by riding the odds on favourite My Prospero to success in the Foundation Stakes over a mile and two furlongs. Marquand was riding for the successful Newmarket stable of William Haggas, with the 8-11 shot a length winner from King Of The Conquest.
The colt finished second in a Group 2 event at York, The Sky Bet Stakes over 1m 2f in July and kept on well to win by half a length.
Marquand quickly rode his second winner of the afternoon when Royal Mila took the Heineken Fillies Handicap by a length from Greysful Storm to give trainer Haggas his second winner at the meeting.
Apprentice Owen Lewis won the final race on the card by taking the seventh race with a comfortable victory by three and a half lengths at the odds of 9-1.
