Champion elect jockey Oisin Murphy bagged a double at Lingfield Park on Tuesday afternoon to enhance his lead over nearest challenger Tom Marquand by 42.

The former three times champion had eight well fancied rides on the card, but had to settle for just two winning rides.

Murphy, started the meeting off with a comfortable nine length victory aboard Candyman Stan. The three-year-old went to post the 1-6 favourite and had little trouble beating his four other runners.

The Irishman bought up his double when steering another odds on shot Sayidah Dariyan to another easy victory again by six lengths, this time for trainer Richard Hughes.

Apprentice jockey Brandon Wilkie’s impressive record for trainer William Knight continued when Sugarloaf Lenny narrowly took the 1m4f handicap.

The duo got up to win by a neck at Yarmouth last time and got the verdict in an even closer finish when denying Caballo De Mar by a nose, which took their strike-rate to 33 per cent when teaming up.

Paddy Bradley put aside his disappointment on Monday at Brighton after receiving a six day ban for careless riding, by steering Lion Ring to victory in the 5f National Racehorse Week handicap for trainer Andrew Martin.

The Chipping Norton trainer has just the one flat runner in training, with Lion Ring giving him just his second winner on the flat.

Elsewhere, eight-year-old Global Warning took the 7f handicap under Liam Keniry, with the Darryll Holland trained Bluebells Boy getting up to beat Don’t Fight It by three quarters of a length.
