Twilight Jet landed a significant gamble in the 6f handicap at Lingfield Park on Monday afternoon, to record his first win since September 2023.

The seven-year-old obliged at odds of 11-8 after being backed in from 25-1 the night before.

Jim & Suzi Best’s gelding competed at the highest level in his younger days, winning in Group 3 company and finishing fifth in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes in 2021. However, he had dropped 22lb to an official mark of 74 since joining the yard.

Sean Levey put Twilight Jet in a prominent position before making his challenge down the centre of the track and getting up in the final furlong to win by half a length from Travel Agent.

Italian Marco Ghiani recorded a treble on the card after success with Rogue Empire, Notable Dream and Adalida before Dancing Tiger finished second behind eventuall winner King’s Hand in the opener.

Rogue Empire produced a satisfactory run at Kempton two weeks ago when finishing third. His mark has dipped to another 2lb to 60 and produced a fine display to land the 2m staying handicap by five and a half lengths.

All eyes were on the third race on the card, the 7f two year old maiden featuring six runners. Four on debut including Encounter trained by Sean Woods with Ryan Moore booked for his only ride of the day on Woods’s first 2 year old of the campaign.

However, the experience of Notable Dream made the difference after his debut third at Doncaster sixteen days ago.

Making all he pulled clear to score by six lengths and looks a horse who will go on to better things this season.

Ghiani brought up his third winner on the card by steering the Stuart Williams trained Adalida to victory by two lengths.

Another jockey who had a productive afternoon was David Egan who rode a double at the Surrey track.

After coming from the rear of the field to the front to land the opener on King’s Hand, Egan was aboard Amo racing’s Behike.

The three-year-old had already won an all weather maiden here last month under Egan, but is known to be a very quirky colt.

Today, he was mounted in the chute, ponied down to the start and also wore a hood. Once the race commenced, he travelled strongly, before pressing the leader 3f out and stayed on well inside the final furlong to land the odds by two and three quarter lengths.
