New Zealander Will Williams produced a devastating spell of bowling from the pavilion end by taking four for 13 in just 21 balls as Surrey were dismissed for 84 inside forty five minutes, chasing 208 for victory.
Surrey resumed in the morning on 57 for 5, facing an uphill task, still requiring 151 to win with five wickets remaining.
With the floodlights on and overhead conditions, Tom Bailey opened the bowling from the Vauxhall End fresh from his outstanding effort yesterday that yielded four wickets inside eleven overs for 34 runs.
Lancashire didn’t have to wait long to get an early breakthrough and it was that man Bailey who claimed his fivefer after Lawes(10) edged behind.
Shortly afterwards, Will Williams produced a delivery than nipped back with Jacks(20) offering no shot top leave Surrey 68 for 7 with the victory target of 208 a long way off.
The New Zealander then produced a delivery that nipped back to bowl Sam Curran(12) as Lancashire sensed a quick end to the match after Surrey lost three wickets in eleven balls.
Williams then bagged his third victim of the morning when Sean Abbott(0) feathered behind. Jordan Clarke and Dan Worral put up some brief resistance before Clark(4) chipped Williams to mid off to give him figures of 4 for 23 as Lancashire wrapped up victory inside the first hours play and recorded their second championship win of the season and in so doing condemned Surrey to their first defeat in this seasons championship.
