Britain’s oldest jockey Jimmy Quinn rode just his second winner of the year after steering Adace to victory in the 7f handicap at Kempton Park on Wednesday evening.
The 57-year-old who a week ago put his retirement party on hold until the end of the turf season after winning at Yarmouth aboard Lost In Time, gave the six-year-old Adace the perfect ride but running on well in the closing stages to win by three quarters of a length from Marchetti.
The winner gave in form trainer Dean Ivory his fourth winner from the last ten runners to maintain an impressive strike rate of 33%.
It was also a good evening for jockey Richard Kingscote who rode a double at the track.
In the second race on the card Footwork for the Charlie Johnston yard took the 7f nursery handicap before bringing up his double on the night with a narrow neck victory aboard Kissininthebackrow for Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole.
There was a nice winning debut for American Gal who ran on well to win the opener for Saffie Osborne.
Ralph Beckett’s two-year-old’s have been in scintillating form this season, with Dash Of Azure fancied to open her account after finishing second in her previous two outings.
However it wasn’t to be third time lucky after an impressive performance from the Andrew Balding trained Bermuda Longtail who did enough to beat Dash Of Azure by one and three quarter lengths.
Apprentice Joe Leavy has deservedly been getting plenty of plaudits for his race riding this season. The three pound claimer rode another excellent ride to narrowly get the better of fellow debutant Flightofthephoenix by a head to take the 7f fillies novice Stakes for Richard Hannon and popular owner Julie Wood.
Stanley Spencer made it back to back wins after taking the London Spirit Series Qualifier over 6f.
The three-year-old was previously successful at Southwell in a 12 runner handicap 56 days ago and looked well at home on the Kempton track.
The most impressive winner on the night was Rockit Tommy who put four and three quarter lengths between himself and Damascus Steel.
After a patchy start to his career, the gelding is learning quickly about the game with some consistent performances in his past four runs, culminating in a comfortable victory this evening.
