WeLoveWoking Show 6th May 5-7pm

It’s back!

This Wednesday 6th May, in the year 2020…

The #welovewokingshow returns to Radio Woking.

As the station is based at Winston Churchill School, our live shows have ceased for now.

It took a bit of time, but we’ve learnt some new technology tricks, and will each week be bringing you a lockdown show. Full of phone interviews with local people, businesses, musicians, charities, and organisations about how they are coping with lockdown, and about what they do. Plus chat about what we discover on our exercise walks.

Returning to help me on this adventure, is my former apprentice – Annalise Ware.

She’s back to complete her Jedi training, and each week we’ll be recording our links, put them together with interviews and music – ready for every Wednesday. If you want to have a chat, let us know!

This week we speak with…

Mohammed Habib, Mosque Manager at the Shah Jahan Mosque about their food bank, helping the community, their work with His Church and how lockdown & social distancing has affected the day to day activities at the mosque, especially now, during Ramadan.

Elaine McGinty from the Phoenix Cultural Centre , who run Fiery Bird Live Music Venue about their new board, Music Venue Trust’s nationwide campaign #SaveOurVenues and their crowdfunder.

Sour Kix , Louis, Ed, Amelie, Ollie and Andries, Zoomed us to talk about their new single ‘Right Here, Right Now’ which we’ll play after. (OUT NOW on all platforms). Plus we thank them for recording a beautiful cover of ‘Wings’ by Birdy, especially for us all. You can hear it at the end of the show.

We all go shopping and see one side of things. I’ll tell you about my new experience since becoming a #keyworker as a temp online picker for Tesco Brooklands. I give a big shout out and play a song for all my brilliant colleagues and all those working in shops and supermarkets everywhere.

Join us at the Unusual time of 5-7pm on Radio Woking.
