Newmarket trainer T.J Kent maintained his impressive form of the past two weeks after saddling his fourth consecutive winner when Mister Mojita landed the opening Apprentice Handicap under Jack Callan.

A dual winner at Lingfield last spring including over C&D was right back on song with a second of 6 in a handicap at Newmarket 18 days ago.

In touch with the leaders, Callan switched the gelding to the right to lead over a furlong out before running on inside the final furlong to land the odds by three quarters of a length.

The two divisions of the restricted maiden stakes were dominated by less fancied horses with 16-1 shot Fortunate taking the opening division and Potters Margot giving Matt Crawley his first 2-year-old winner of the season at 25-1.

Young apprentice Ashley Lewis brought up his 35th winner of the season after steering bottom weight Tabasko to victory in the 1m 6f handicap.

Just five runners went to post, with top weight Scarlet Moon and Tabasko fighting out the finish with Ed Walker’s charge getting up on the line to win by a neck.

A rare visitor to Lingfield and an even rarer runner saw Jamie Snowden saddle Hop Rising to victory in the 1m 3f handicap.

A three-time winner over hurdles, had a spin on the flat at Bath three weeks ago with a creditable fourth of 8 over a similar trip.

Under Rob Hornby, the five-year-old made all to romp home by an impressive five and a half lengths from Douglas DC.

The 356-mile road trip proved fruitful for Tiverton trainer Joe Tickle after the heavily backed Offiah’s Boy prevailed in the lucky last by two lengths from Gert Lush.
