The miserable weather the country is currently experiencing claimed another victim when this evenings Men’s Hundred match fell victim to the weather.
Just 26 balls was possible with play suspended twice after the visitors had made 34 for 2 when the second disruption of the night meant no further play was possible.
London Spirit won the toss and elected to bowl first. Finn Allen immediately lofted Dan Worrall straight back over his head for the first maximum of the match.
However, Worrall soon got his revenge, not with Allen but his partner Devon Conway(0) who drove his third ball received straight back to the Surrey paceman who clung on to the chance.
Rain drove the players from the field at 6.55 with Brave 11 for 1 after 11 balls. After a delay of 90 minutes play resumed with the game reduced to 50 balls per side.
Liam Dawson struck the first blow after the resumption when he had Allen(13) caught in the deep before Daryl Mitchell snapped up the vital wicket of Brave’s skipper James Vince(19) who was superbly caught by Dawson who slid along the floor to take a full length catch to leave Brave 34 for 2 off 26 balls.
Unfortunately the rain returned once again and with no end in sight and play having to start by 9.12 pm, the umpires had no alternative but to abandon the game with both sides getting one point each.
