Jack Mitchell rides a four timmer at Lingfield Park’s Family Fun Raceday

Jockey Jack Mitchell recorded a four timer with trainer Charlie Johnston saddling three winners on Saturday at Lingfield Park’s very well attended Family Fun Raceday.

On a glorious Saturday afternoon in Surrey, Mitchell got the ball rolling but winning the opening race of the afternoon on Almaty Star. The three year old started off at 1-10 and easily pulled clear of the remaining three runners under Mitchell to win by five lengths.

Artisan Dancer backed up his win at Chelmsford City two weeks ago to make it three wins on the bounce by winning the second race on the card. The even money favourite under Oliver Stammers won by three lengths over Team Endeavour.

Just five runners went to post for the next race of the afternoon. Ambiente Amigo was a very warm favourite and started off at 4-9. Under Hector Crouch, the filly was never troubled and pulled well clear to win by six and a half lengths.

Mitchell bagged his second winner of the afternoon when Tropical Air justified his 3-1 favourite odds by winning by three lengths from the Dylan Hogan ridden Rising Force.

Favourite backers were having the time off the life when another went in in the fifth race of the day when top weight Regheeb beat Montevideo by three and a half lengths under Luke Morris.

The colt was last seen on a course 135 days ago, but despite not running for a while he made all and soon went clear to beat his five other rivals.

Saturnalia became the first favourite to fail after being beaten into first place by the Roger Varian trained gelding. Under Mitchell he had to work hard for his win after keeping on well the final 110 yards to win by a short head and give Varian his second winner of the afternoon.

There was still time for Mitchell to bring up his four timer when Fox Flame who just got the better of Turner Girl under Morgan Cole claiming a five pound allowance to win by a short head with yet another winner for the Middleham trainer Johnston.
