Joint trainer Jamie Insole was saddling his first ever runner at Sandown, and it turned out to be his first ever winner at the Esher track after Dividend caused a huge shock in the 7f maiden for two-year-olds by getting his head over the line at the second time of asking at 50-1.

The Kodiac juvenile finished two lengths clear of Moon Sniper, who was also sent off at 50-1 for William Muir and Chris Grassick.

Dividend got the better of 11 other rivals, with winning jockey Rossa Ryan feeling that an ambitious tilt at a higher grade race should definitely be on the agenda for the Droitwich trainer.

Jockey Tom Marquand brought up a double on the afternoon with 14-1 shot Chasing Aphrodite in the feature race of the day the Book Your Coral Eclipse Tickets Now Handicap over 1m 2f.

The top weight bounced back from a disappointing showing at Windsor 20 days ago to win by one and a quarter lengths from Born Ruler. The jockey then completed –his double by steering  Sunfall to victory in the 7f three year old handicap.

The filly was dropping down in trip after finishing 10th of 13 in a handicap run over 1m at Newmarket 26 days ago.

Elsewhere, Northern trainer Jessica Macey continued her impressive strike rate at the Surrey track of 40% by saddling her fifth winner at Sandown from very few runners when Jenever with her husband Lewis Edmunds on board won the 5f handicap.

Richard Hannon struck with another juvenile in the opening 5f novice stakes when Siegen defeated favourite Rajeteriat with Pat Dobbs in the saddle.

Travolta followed up his maiden win at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago by taking the 1m 2f handicap on his handicap debut with Daniel Muscutt aboard.
