Crossing The Tracks Blog

Hi all

Technology eh? Back in the old days a state of the art radio studio consisted of a mixing desk, three turntables (that’s ‘record players’,  kids) and ‘cartridge’ machines that played the endless loop tape jingles. In those days records would jump and scratch, cartridge machines would break down and only play bits of your jingles, and you really had to be on the ball. Nowadays of course it’s all hi-tech, with CD players and computerised ‘playout systems’ for the jingles.

So now your CD’s skip and stutter, computer systems break and only play bits of your jingles and you really need to be on the ball….nothing’s really changed in 30 years has it? 🙂
