West Country trainer Rod Millman completed a bookend double at Salisbury’s Al Basti Equiworld Dubao City Bowl Raceday on Thursday afternoon.
Safari Dream kick started the Millman show in the opener after prevailing by one and a quarter lengths under apprentice Jake Dickson.
In the race which is designed for jockeys whips to be carried but not used, Dickson made all on the six-year-old to score comfortably. The gelding is no stranger to Salisbury having previously won twice over C&D.
The connections of useful sprinter Adaay In Devon look to have found another useful horse with her half sister Maid In Devon scoring in the finale under George Wood by half a length.
The filly showed some promise on her three qualifying runs on grass last season but has been unable to replicate that form in handicaps this spring. However a trip up to 6f looked in her favour with the filly always doing enough.
Earlier, Wood had steered Stage Show to a shock victory in the 1m 4f handicap at odds of 66-1 for trainer Alex Dunn.
Having returned to the flat for the first time in two years, the six-year-old kept on well inside the final furlong to hang on and win gamely by a short head from Fair Dinkum.
Clive Cox has only sent out six two-year-old runners this season, with his only runner of the day Orthodox making it his second two-year-old winner of the campaign after landing the Class 3 maiden stakes over 5f.
Making his debut, Rossa Ryan had to do very little on the colt to ease to a two and a half length win.
Like Cox, Owen Burrows had only one runner today with Alfred Boucher prevailing in the 1m 6f handicap at 22-1.
A remarkable training performance from Burrows after the horse has been off for 204 days. Burrows said after the race the ten-year-old has been working well at home and this was the race to see what the future held for the gelding.
Bang in form yard of Archie Watson was on the scoreboard once again after Hollie Doyle partnered Wareeth to victory in the 1m 2f novice stakes.
After cantering up on his debut at Newcastle in March, inexperience shone through when finishing sixth of 7 to Morshdi in a listed race at Newmarket last time out.
The drop down in grade made all the difference with a comfortable six length success with his next target being a trip to Royal Ascot in June.
