Chris Gordon continued his purple patch of the last 14 days after his son Freddie steered Jorebel to victory in the opening race on the card at Fontwell on Monday afternoon to bring up his third winner in the last eight runners with an impressive strike rate of 38%.

However, the race itself certainly wasn’t without incident. The favorite Graham fell early which left Jorebel who was left clear at the 4th to push ahead. The novice hurdler looked to have the race in the bag after being four lengths clear in the run in. Freddie Gordon dropped his hands in the final 110 yards which left Hill Station who had gradually made progress to challenge the Goodwin horse in the final stages.

Eventually Freddie Gordon managed to get an extra effort out of the six-year-old to win on the nod by a nose.
