The WLW Show 20/5/20 – #lockdown Episode 3

On this week’s We Love Woking Show… Weds 20/5/20 – #lockdown Episode 3

Another packed show with four more great guests.

First hour we speak to Fiamma Pather, CEO at Your Sanctuary , a domestic abuse charity based in Woking. She speaks about how lockdown can turn an already awful situation, into a total nightmare, for those suffering abuse. We learn how you can get help, the support they recieve from Woking Council, and more about Your Sanctuary, their staff and volunteers.

Lockdown has affected so many industries and businesses, especially our local ones. Next we chat with one of our previous guests, Maria Trovato of Bella M
We hear the impact it had on her business, using social media as tool to promote what you do, the steps she has taken to prepare for when she can reopen, including the certificates she has gained.

2nd hour we have another #localbusiness that has featured on the show before. Val Hunt of Pure Hair Lightwater speaks to us about how the Covid situation affected them, and the whole industry, leading upto and since the lockdown rules took effect. Plus we chat about the work they have been doing in the community, with their elderly customers and also about their £20 Voucher for NHS staff, FREE to download from their website
www.purehairsalon.co.uk
Even if you aren’t NHS, you can download and gift it someone who is.

Our last guest is Jules Hopkins from Knaphill Community Fridge.
We speak about how it all started, the vision behind it, the support they recieve from the stores and supermarkets who provide the food and how after initially serving the Knaphill community, are now open to the whole of the wider Woking community. Especially for people and families who may be struggling through these times. There’s no referral system, no judgement, or anyone asking anything. Just free food available for all of us.

We also mention #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek , and have more chat, and some fantastic music, with four songs chosen by our guests.

Join Annalise and myself 6-8pm on Radio Woking.
