The We Love Woking Show – The York Road Project

It’s Wednesday, and nearly time for this week’s show……

And boy do we have a lot to cram into these 2 hours!

Tonight we’re focusing on a Woking Charity that helps the homeless and vulnerable in our area.  We’re joined from 8-10pm by Cath Stamper from The York Road Project. You can find out more from their website…

Cath joined us on the show, just after we had started, and we learnt about the work they do.  She’s not alone this time…….she’s bringing her boys Rory and Callum too.

We met them all  just before the end of 2015, when we popped down to join in with their Annual Barn Dance….It was so much fun – We’re already looking forward to this years!

We’ll be talking again about their work and how they have come along since we last visited, including talking of The Prop, a new addition to the project, which enables them to do so much more.  We’ll also be talking about Masato London, who we also met at the dance, who have run a fantastic campaign, selling beanies and scarves to help the project.

The campaign is finishing soon,  you can find out how you can help, here….

They have also chosen some fantastic tunes that we’ll be listening to throughout the show.

In the second hour, I’ll be talking about my Mission last Friday to Pinewood Studio’s!  I was invited along by Jackie, to be a Beard Model at The Iver Academy.  Here, Creative Hair & Make Up students learn from the best tutors in the film, TV, theatre and fashion Industry.

Also in the second half…….Woking, some of our youngsters need our Help!!

We’ll be talking to Siriol Bailey about Summerscales Performing Arts, a local dance school based in Horsell Village. They have been given an opportunity to represent Team England at this year’s Dance World Cup, which is held in Jersey in June.

Unfortunately, there is no funding available to help towards this, so they are appealing to the community for help.  They have set up a crowdfunding page, which is going live tomorrow, Thursday 11th February.

They need  to raise £9,000 to go towards travel and the Team England tracksuits for all 29 girls who are taking part.  If you can help, even just by sharing the link on your social media pages with friends and family, it would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to hearing more about this adventure!
