Regime change in Woking. Byfleet, its Community and saving a Fire Station.
Last week saw a big change in the political playing field of Woking.
We don’t usually do politics on this show….but this evening…a message to the new leadership and all the newly elected councillors.
Words for those who stood, but didn’t get elected, words for the out going councillors, and words for those who may be thinking of standing in future.
Once that’s out of the way (it won’t take long) we’re back on it!
Our guest this evening is local councillor Amanda Jayne Boote, and we’re going be talking about the Byfleet Fire Station Trust, which was set up to campaign to save Byfleet Fire Station.
It has been saved, and Surrey County Council has agreed to restore this Grade 2 listed building, and pass it to the trust to enable its use for the local community.
We’ll be hearing how the campaign started, the history of the Fire Station, the renovation, and the plans for its use going forwards.
