New Beginnings, International Peace Day & Climate Change – The View From Here

This week we look at a diverse range of events going on in the area.

9am – Sharon visits the ‘New Beginnings’ art exhibition at the Lightbox and interviews Helen Emmings of the Womens’ Support Centre in Woking. This exhibition is the culmination of a project to introduce women who are in contact with the criminal justice system to art and creative work. The artwork is on display until 11th October.
Sharon interviews Daman who is arranging a Bollywood Festival at the United Reform Church in Woking on September 27th from 1.30pm. This is a fund-raising event in support of a young boy with cerebral palsy. To book tickets contact Daman on 07789550834 or wokingsaheli@gmail.com

10am – Simon Tricks joins us in the studio to talk about the International Peace Day celebrations on September 20th. The Woking People of Faith and Surrey Interfaith Links organised an art competition in local primary schools around the theme of world peace. Prizes will be awarded by the mayor of Woking on the day. The event will be held in Mercia Walk from 12noon.

11am – We consider issues of climate change and listen to a recording of Amelia Womack’s talk to the Ascot Environmental Network on Saturday.
