Surrey Scorchers returned back to winning ways and in so doing inflicted their second successive defeat on the Eagles inside a couple of weeks.
Captain Tayo Ogedengbe led the scoring with 20 points while Tony Hicks picked up 16 points and 11 assists on the night.
Scorchers raced into a 11-4 lead after just a few minutes as the hosts started strongly. They continued their momentum by increasing their lead to nine points before Eagles scored a 7-0 run to reduce the gap, with Scorchers holding a two-point advantage at the end of the opening quarter 19-15.
Just like the opening period it was Scorchers who were on the front foot right from the start with a couple of three-point throws from Ogedengbe. By the half time interval, the home side led by ten points 42-32.
Creon Raftopoulos’s side continued to pull away in the second half with Hicks and Lacey James continuing their impressive offensive display. At one stage the Surrey outfit had stretched their advantage to 21 points. By the end of the third quarter Scorchers led 70-52.
As in the previous quarters Scorchers hit their opponents hard by scoring quickly in the opening minutes. Points were scored on a regular basis as Scorchers ran out comfortable winners and in so doing completed a 2-0 series win over the Eagles.
Ina game that saw Scorchers win every quarter and Eagles never in front throughout the entire duration of the game, this win will give the Surrey side a massive amount of confidence heading into the final run of games in a tough end of season run in.
