On a weekend of local football that saw a host of games called of due to waterlogged pitches, no problems for both Woking and Aldershot Town who not only played their FA Trophy games, but both sides progressed into the next round of the competition.

Woking had to do it the hard way after coming from behind to beat fellow National League side Dover Athletic 2-1 at the Laithwaite Community Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors broke the deadlock within 25 seconds of the second half, only for Woking to hit back with two goals inside three minutes from Charlie Cooper and Slavi Spasov to seal woking’s name in the hat for the 4th round of the FA Trophy for the first time in five seasons.

Off the field, Woking have signed Jamar Loza from Kings Lynn Town for an undisclosed fee. Loza, is back with the Cards for a third spell for the club.

Aldershot Town had a much easier passage into the next round after a 5-1 victory against Southern League Central Division 1 side Welwyn Garden City at Herns Way.

Goals from Mike Fondop, Alex Finney, Shadrach Bogie, Mo Bettamer and Chike Kandi was enough to see of the lower league outfit.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division Sheerwater travelled to Abbey Rangers and came away with all three points in a 2-0 victory. Goals from Neil Roissetter and Leon Dadey completed a fine win.

In rugby, Harlequins are still looking for their first win in the European Champions Cup this season after falling to a heavy 49-7 loss to French side Racing 92 at the Stoop on Sunday.

Quins only points of the game fell to a try from Scott Steele and a conversion from Marcus Smith.

Better luck for the ladies as Harlequins Women continued on their winning ways after a 24-14 victory against Worcester Warriors Women at Worcester on Sunday. The victory made it eight successive bonus point wins in a row for Quins.

In basketball, Surrey Scorchers slumped to a 99-79 loss to Bristol Flyers in the BBL Championship at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday evening.

In cricket earlier this week, next seasons County Championship fixtures were released. Surrey will open up their campaign with a trip to Bristol to face Gloucestershire. The four day game will start on Thursday 8th April 2021.

Meanwhile, Middlesex open up their county championship campaign when they face Somerset at Lords with that game also starting on 8th April 2021.
