Woking put up a brave performance against Football League One side Gillingham in the Emirates FA Cup 1st round, before going down 3-2 on Saturday.

Woking opened the scoring through Max Kretzschmar. When Josh Davison doubled the Cards advantage, Woking were dreaming of one of the big cup shocks of the weekend, however the Football League side hit back thanks to a brace from Dominic Samuel and the winner coming from Vadaine Oliver with ten minutes remaining.

Woking will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat when they face Yeovil Town at the Laithwaite Community Stadium this Saturday in the National League.

Harrison Panayiotou returned from injury to net the winner for Aldershot against Notts County in the Vanarama National League at the EBB Stadium on Saturday. The 1-0 victory was Aldershot’s first home win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Shots have signed Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad James on a month’s loan deal. The 21-year-old was on loan at National League North side Gateshead last season. James, went straight into the Shots starting line up against Notts County on Saturday.

Aldershot will be looking to back up Saturday’s victory with another League win when they visit Altrincham on Saturday.

In rugby, Harlequins Women claimed their fourth successive bonus point win in the Allianz Premier 15’s after defeating Loughborough Lightning 33-24 at Loughborough on Saturday.

In the top of the table clash it was the side from South West London who enhanced their position at the top of the table with two tries apiece from Shaunagh Brown, Rhona Lloyd and Emily Scarratt.

Harlequins men have announced that South African second row player Stephan Lewies will be Club Captain ahead of the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Championship Cup campaigns.

In basketball, Surrey Scorchers have added University of Surrey students Mayo Adeyeye and Alex Koukouravas to their BBL rooster for the 2020/21 season.

In cricket, South African fast bowler Morne Morkel is leaving Surrey CCC after deciding not to return to the club for the 2021 season.

Surrey’s Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Jason Roy and Reece Topley have all been named in England’s T20 squad for the forthcoming tour of South Africa. Tom Curran, Roy and Topley have also been named in the ODI squad.

Middlesex’s Eoin Morgan will captain both ODI and T20 squads with Middlesex’s Tom Helm named as a reserve across both formats.
