Magpies gain revenge for October’s loss against the Cards

Notts County moved into the play-off places after a comfortable victory over Woking at the Laithwaite Community Stadium on Saturday.

Goals in each half from Ruben Rodrigues and Elisha Sam was enough for the Magpies to make it four wins in their last five games. Woking were dealt a blow early on when they lost the services of influential Kyle Wootton went cloiseright back Kyran Lofthouse to injury.

In a poor first half, where chances wewre few and far between, it was the hosts who looked likely to open the scoring. Kyle Wootton’s deflected shot was palmed away by Craig Ross, before with a minute remaining the deadlock was broken. The excellent Aaron Nemane squared the ball for Rodrigues to find the bottom corner. The Magpies continued on the front foot in the secoind half, with Wootton’s low shot well saved by Cards custodian Ross.

With 15 minutes to go, the visitors made the game safe when Elisha Sam netted to ensure County made up for the disappointing loss that Woking handed to them back at Meadow Lane in October.
