Students and training future stars

Radio Woking is proud to have trained many young people and students in producing and presenting at the station.  Many have gone on to having careers in the radio industry.

Students at The Winston Churchill School present some ground breaking programmes.  Some fantastic ideas have come from our students, and it is great to listen to their ideas and opinions on Woking and the world in their shows.

Radio Woking is here for the local community, in the local community, and we’re about giving students and young people the chance to be part of a real radio station.

That’s The Radio Woking Way!

History

We started as a school campus radio station.  Our studios were initially set up in the school with the help of the former local commercial station Eagle Radio to train students to present and produce radio programmes after school.  The school invested in some state of the art new studios for recording and production, and the idea of starting a community radio station was born, as it seemed a waste that the studios were unused after the students went home.

Radio Woking was born and not only features the school’s students but also presenters from the local community. Our presenters have a wide range of interests and backgrounds with many from the radio industry.  You can meet our presenters here
