RICHARD ORLU has demanded that his Woking side immediately cut out the silly mistakes as the Cards approach a crucial period in the season.

Anthony Limbrick’s side feel to their third defeat in a row on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-2 at home to Guiseley as they slipped to eighth in the National League.

After conceding at least six of their last eight goals from set-pieces, the Woking captain has stated the need for immediate change, and believes his side cannot keep making excuses.

He told Kool AM Sport: “It seems like it’s always a simple mistake that we can correct and it’s at that point in the season now where we’ve really got to correct them.

“We can’t keep saying we’ll get there, no, we need to be there now and sure the manager has the same attitude. We can’t keep making the same mistakes, we’ve got to fix them and if we do we’ve got so many other positives, but we really want to improve and we have to do it now.”

“We got to stop conceding easy goals, the annoying thing is that we’ve not been outplayed and I don’t feel like we’re defending badly as a whole but certain things we need to improve on.

“It’s frustrating but at the same time it’s not the most difficult things to fix and we’re going to work on them and try our best to fix them.”

Orlu has made ten appearances since joining from Dover in the summer, yet despite missing almost half of the season with injury, the captain takes full responsibility for his side’s defensive errors.

He added: “We’ve got to earn our luck in this league, we’re not defending well enough in our box and we could attack teams a bit better.

“I’m one of the worst culprits for that but we’ve got to improve in both ends of the pitch, we’ve got to take chances and do whatever we need to do to keep a clean sheet.”

“There’s only one way to put it right. We can’t moan, we can’t dwell it, the only thing to make everybody happier is to win the next game.”

Woking have conceded 27 goals from their opening 18 games, but have won half of their games, seeing them just five points off the summit of the National League table.

Despite last season’s struggles, which saw the Cards secure survival on the final day of the season, Orlu isn’t content that his side are just outside the play-offs and believes the sky is the limit.

“We don’t get anything for being eighth in this league and we don’t limit our standards to being at a certain level, we’ve lost three games on the bounce but I don’t feel like we’ve played a team better than us or a team that’s deserved to beat us which is the most frustrating part.

“We haven’t played anyone so far that’s been better, we’ve just been making silly errors but we’ll get better.”
