THE VIEW FROM HERE – Vesak and Buddhism, Death and Dying, Protecting Democracy…

Sunday 29th May 2016

9am – 12noon

9am – we are joined by a Thai monk from the Dhammakaya Temple in Knaphill who will inform us about Vesak. This festival is known as Buddha Day or Buddha Purnima and is celebrated around the world. Debbie, a volunteer at the temple, will tell us about the upcoming retreat to be held at the temple from 17th -19th June. http://www.watphradhammakayalondon.co.uk/meditation-courses/retreat-meditation/

10am – following her very successful touring exhibition “A Graceful Death” Antonia Rolls is now embarking on “A Graceful Dying – a one woman show”. Death and dying are usually subjects that are ignored until it is too late. As an artist and ‘soul midwife’ Antonia embraces the inevitable with humility and a love of humanity. http://www.antoniarolls.co.uk/introduction

11am Neal Lawson joins us to explore “The Democratic Deficit” which is a talk he will be giving in Godalming on Saturday 4th June. Neal is the national chair of Compass and was involved in the publication of “Secure and Free: 5 steps to make the desirable feasible” http://www.compassonline.org.uk/secure-and-free-draft-publication-for-comment/ And for the meeting on 4th June see http://www.compassonline.org.uk/events/surrey-compass-june-meeting/
