THE VIEW FROM HERE – classical piano & Albanian music, Eid-el-fitr, the martyrdom of the Bab

9am – Dr. Kirsten Johnson introduces us to classical piano and her studies in Albania. We take a tour through a variety of composers with musical interludes played by Kirsten herself. Kirsten holds a PhD in piano performance and has studied widely in different countries and across a variety of cultures. http://www.kirstenjohnsonpiano.com  

10amSharon introduces Eid the great celebration in the Muslim calendar. Eid-el-fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the month long period of fasting. Eid Mubarak! 

10.30am – Kirsten introduces us to cross cultural music including some inspired by the Persian poet and scientist Omar Khayyam. 

11am – Simon Tricks from the Woking Baha’i Faith joins us to tell us about the martyrdom of the Bab, one of the most important events in the Baha’i calendar. This is celebrated on July 9th each year and commemorates the events surrounding the death of the Bab in 1850.
