MATT YOUNG has labelled the Laithwaite’s Community Stadium a ‘fortress’ as Woking prepare to host Guiseley in the National League tomorrow afternoon.
The Cards have lost just one game there all season, and after consecutive away trips to Concord Rangers, Bromley and Dover, Woking will return to home soil, a place which close to Young’s heart.
He told BBC Surrey Sport: “That place is a fortress for us, playing there makes us feel good, makes us feel comfortable but nothing changes in away games. We’ll have the supporters behind us, we’ll play on the front foot, start well and we’ll be ready to go.”
Woking sit fourth in the National League, and will look to get back to winning ways after defeats at Dover and Bromley, but face a side in Guiseley who have failed to win away from home all season.
The visitors picked up just three points on the road all season, but Woking have never beaten Guiseley in their four meetings, with three of those ending in stalemates.
Anthony Limbrick will be without Kane Ferdinand who serves the second game of his ban, but both Jason Banton and Fabio Saraiva are nearing full fitness after making the bench on Tuesday.
Guiseley are one of the several National League sides that have already changed their manager, with Paul Cox replacing the sacked Adam Lockwood, picking up four points from his first two games.
Cox has brought in seven players in his short tenure so far including Peterborough United defender Lewis Freestone and former Whitehawk centre-back Chris M’Boungou.
Guiseley recent announced that they were to be going full-time in a bid to lift them out of the relegation places, with Cox’s side sitting 21st in the league table.
