For a memorable day out why not treat yourself to this relaxing day excursion to York, an ideal destination if you live within reach of the Hampshire and Surrey stations from where our classic train will be running from. The carriages will be festively decorated to celebrate the start of the Christmas period.
York offers everything, with the world famous Minster, castle, museums, city walls, medieval alleyways to visit and many independent shops. Then there is the magnificent National Railway Museum, Jorvik Experience, river cruises… and much more! The festive season gathers momentum in York this day, with the annual St. Nicholas Fair lining the streets with numerous snug wooden chalets and twinkling lights. Stall holders will be selling unique gifts, local wines, cheeses and other foods. To add to the seasonal cheer the scent of warm mulled wine and roasting chestnuts should be filling the air!
The rail journey to, and return from, Yorkshire will be across London followed by a speedy run along the East Coast main line via Peterborough and Doncaster. Arrival is expected into York around 1 o’clock, later departing south at tea time, giving you a good four hours to enjoy the varied delights of this historic and endearing city.
Several classes of reserved seating will be available:
PREMIER DINING is offered in first class carriages with armchair style seating and features an at table service of meals freshly prepared aboard.
FIRST CLASS PLUS includes a waiter service of tea and coffee with light bites such as cakes and biscuits.
FIRST CLASS is again an armchair style seating but without any inclusive catering.
STANDARD CLASS seats are grouped two facing two. An optional buffet will be available.
All seating is situated in open saloon carriages at tables witrh large panoramic windows to view the passing landscape.
MOTIVE POWER IS EXPECTED TO BE A DB CARGO CLASS 67 DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE THROUGHOUT.
