Ben’s 2016 Music Awards

Hello! Welcome to 2017! It’s that time where we give out yearly awards and have a look back at the world of music last year. We have 4 awards to give out this year, and here they are:

Best Newcomer

This year the winner for best newcomer goes to…

Shawn Mendes!

Here’s what Ben had to say live on the radio: “This year saw the release of Shawn’s Illuminate album, and saw him have many hits in the UK Top 40. It’s been an amazing year for him and I think he thoroughly deserves this one!”

Single of The Year

This year has been a great year for music, so this award was very tightly contested. I actually asked quite a few people what they thought about the songs I had in my list and they all agreed with this choice. The single of the year goes to…

Calum Scott – Dancing on My Own

“Normally I don’t like covers of songs, but this one was so good that I would play it endlessly just listening to the words and then making myself upset. It has that emotional feeling that made it my single of 2016.”

Album of The Year

Again some amazing albums were released this year, but this one stood out for me being unique and having some great songs throughout. The album of the year is…

24k Magic – Bruno Mars

“This album definitely stood out for me as being the best of the year. One of my favourite artists coming back with throwback album to the 80’s and 90’s. A great mix of songs, from slow ballads to smash hits too!”

Artist of The Year

This award goes to the person who I think has had the biggest impact this year through music. The artist of the year is of course…

“She really needs no introduction. She is one of the biggest artists of our generation, and is constantly flying the flag for GB all over the world. Another amazing year for Adele with a sold out world tour, and countless videos of her all over social media just being Adele. I need to see her live please and thank you”

That’s it for another year of music! What a year it’s been and I hope you agree with my choices for the awards, let me know in the comments below. Let’s have an amazing 2017!
