Aldershot Town Complete Signing Of Jim Kellerman After His Release From Wolves

By Scott Taylor

Jim Kellerman has signed for Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town after a successful trial. The midfielder, 21, was released from Championship side Wolves at the end of the season. However, after impressing Gary Waddock in Aldershot Town’s 3-2 defeat at home to QPR on Friday, Kellerman has put pen to paper on a contract for the Shots.

Radio Woking Sport chatted to Wolves U18s & U21s journalist @Comptonstars to find out more about Aldershot Town’s latest signing and what he can bring to the Aldershot Town midfield.

He told www.radiowoking.co.uk: “Jim can bring a few things to the National League. He has a good engine, he’s energetic, highly committed and most importantly after his release from Wolves, he is a man with a point to prove.

“Jim is predominantly a central midfielder, but can play as a defensive midfielder as well. He breaks up play and uses the ball well but there are some negative points. He needs to improve his goal output when he goes further forward and he needs to get fitter.”

His fitness may be due to recent injuries in his last couple of seasons, but that is something that @Comptonstars does not think fans should be concerned with.

He said: “I wouldn’t see his injuries as an issues, he has had a few but nothing that should overly concern any fan of Aldershot Town.”

After having trials with fellow National League side Torquay United and League Two champions Northampton Town, @Comptonstars believes that the midfielder has found the right level of football in Non-League’s highest tier.

“I don’t think he can play at a higher level, but I would be happy to be proven wrong. After his release, I had him down to sign for a National League North or South side, but it’s hard to predict as 95% of his football has been at U21 level which is completely different.”

Kellerman joins a growing Aldershot Town midfield, and it is likely that he’ll compete with fellows central midfielders Liam Bellamy and Jake Gallagher for a place in Gary Waddock’s starting line-up.

Aldershot continue their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2016/17 season when they travel to Gosport Borough on Saturday 9 July.
